| Piece of scrape plywood and an old piece of 2x4 that had been sitting around
outside. 2 inch drywall screws (I will be painting later to protect
the screws) hold the post. Drill a bunch of random holes in the
plywood (small bit that will let the drywall screws with a little effort).
The pot will be transformed into the pumpkin head latter. |

| cut off pieces of grape vine and attach by screwing up through the base into
the vine with the 2" screws. I just kinda held vine pieces up at
different places until it looked cool, the I would use clippers to trim the
vine so the end would rest flush against the plywood. A little bailing
wire to hold things together at the top. |

| Here is the base with the 'legs' finished. Thank you

| Adding the ribs, for some reason this makes me think of Johnny Appleseed.
Putrid over at the Halloween Forum has also mentioned using ribs in a
pumpkinrot scarecrow (good idea!) |

| More progress. Need to finish the paper mache', paint and
distress. |

 |
| Snot rag paper mache is done on the head (I think). I think it looks more like
a mummy affect than anything. I used 1 part elmers glue, 1 part water
and 2 parts corn starch for the mache, (thanks putrid). |

| Here the head is painted. I call this the accident painting technique,
because I have no idea what I'm doing and it turned out looking okay.
I painted it cheap pumpkin orange from Wal-Mart, then mixed a little cheap
Wal-Mart brown with the orange and highlighted some spots, finally dry
brushed with the brown. |
 |
| I cut a piece of plywood to match the opening in the pot and attached this
to the top of the pole at the desired angle. 3 screws around the edge
will give the head something to rest on. A couple of scrap pieces of
2" PVC hold the arm braches. The trench coat was $5 from a thrift
store, I sliced all of the liner out, undid the seams along the edges,
the generally slashed it some more. I then mixed opps brown with some
Elmer's glue and slathered it on (thanks John from pumpkinrot)
