Tournament de Tombstone
Mine will be a tombstone in a
tombstone. A tombstone shaped like a reaper will be opening his robes to reveal
a tombstone inside. Impressions of skulls will be pressing against the reaper's
cloak as if they are trying to escape. The crumbling tombstone revealed by the
reaper will have a single word, 'VACANCY'.

Final coat of flat black, followed by 2 coats polyurethane.

Technique, Vacancy stone
- Made the basic stone with three layers of 1/2 " Styrofoam, The inner
layer was made with scrap pieces from cutting the 2 outer layers.
- Drew a stencil for the vacancy on paper.
- Masked off the Styrofoam where the epitaph would go, then used the
stencil to cut the words out of the masking tape. A also got some
scrap cardboard and cut some jagged edges onto it.
- Used black spray paint on the stencil so it would eat way the foam for
the letters. Used the jagged cut cardboard around the edges with
spray paint to form the crumbling edges.
- Base coat of opps brown and black latex.
- Dry brushed gray, then a little more brown. Touched up the
lettering with black latex.
- Sponged a little forest green onto the crumbling sections.
- Put the vacancy stone in the reaper stone.
